Lexus does a M5 - the GS F [Release]

Lexus has today revealed the new GS F at the Detroit motor show, the latest addition to its stable of F-designated high performance models. True to the principles that produced the LFA supercar and the RC F coupe, the 470bhp V8-powered GS F delivers sports car performance and handling, but in a luxury saloon car package.

Based on the current GS saloon, it retains the four-door format and can comfortably seat five adults, breaking new ground as the largest car yet to bear the Lexus F badge.

Lexus reveals its RC F coupe [Release]

Lexus will reveal the new RC F at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 14, a sports thoroughbred model based on the RC coupe which made its debut in Tokyo in November. The RC F is equipped with a new 5.0-litre V8 engine with a maximum output set to be well above 450bhp. Its status as the most powerful V8 road-going car Lexus has yet built is reflected in styling optimised for stability at high speeds, including wider wheels and tyres, an active rear wing, air scoops, cooling ducts and carbon fibre components. Each element delivers what Lexus calls “functional beauty” to the overall design.

Third Generation Lexus IS revealed [Release]

DETROIT (Jan. 15, 2013) – Lexus today unveiled the all-new 2014 IS sedan at the North American International Auto Show. IS will be available in rear- and all-weather drive versions of the IS 250 and IS 350, a further evolution of F SPORT available across the entire model range, and for Europe, Japan, and select international markets, the IS 300h, the first IS to feature Lexus Hybrid Drive.

Lexus reveals the LF-Gh concept [Release]

Lexus has just revealed the Lexus LF-Gh concept vehicle at the New York Motor Show 2011. Lexus presented the world with its first look at the future of Lexus. The design is bold. The stance is aggressive. And, its purpose is to redefine premium luxury with the perfect blend of style, performance, efficiency and advanced technology.

The concept vehicle is really a thinly disguised next-gen GS replacement. The question is whether this concept will make it into production as the performance hybrid version.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Think 'V8 sports sedans' and the first cars that quickly come to mind are the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG and the BMW M3...

… which is where Lexus enters the fray with its 'bahn-storming IS F.

Although we've heard otherwise, the press material references the 'F' in the car's nomenclature to the Fuji Speedway, the IS F's 'spiritual' birthplace and proving/testing ground.

Audi's last generation RS 4 was another worthy contender, but it was only available in manual transmission, a format that doesn't tend to be terribly popular here in Singapore. The success of both the M3 and AMG can be attributed to the fact that they are available in 'automatic' (yes, we're well aware the M-DCT is a trick dual-clutch system, but for all intents and purposes, it's automatic enough for the people) form.

The IS F joins the two Europeans with its party trick – an 8-Speed Sport Direct Shift (SPDS) automatic transmission (this made its debut in the LS 460) mated to a 4969cc V8.

'Nürburgring' Tuning Package for the Lexus LFA

In celebration of its LFA supercar taking on the challenge of the Nürburgring 24 Hours race in May, Lexus has launched a new performance package designed to appeal to customers seeking full-blooded track performance.

The new Nürburgring package provides additional aerodynamic features and technical revisions that improve handling and downforce without compromising the exceptional speed and acceleration that are central to the LFA’s driving character.

Sharper handling with a LSD, new high-tech features and a cool new all-white interior lead the list of improvements and changes for Lexus’s ultra-high-performance IS F for 2010.

To Challenge the 'Ring : Lexus LFA

Lexus is heading back to the legendary Nürburgring this spring to challenge for glory in the 24 Hours endurance race with its LFA supercar.

It will be the first time the production LFA is seen in full-blooded competition, taking on one of the world’s most challenging circuits in a marathon test of speed, handling and durability. In two previous outings in the event, development versions of the LFA were raced primarily to help hone performance and handling. This time the LFA will line up as a prime challenger in standard production car guise.

Relentless Pursuit : Lexus LFA

The new LFA marks an important moment in both the history of Lexus and the development of the supercar. A true “clean-sheet” design, the LFA was created by a small, passionate and dedicated team of engineers whose achievement has been to push the boundaries of technologies materials and engineering at every stage to produce a car like no other to have carried the Lexus badge.
