Arguably the most sought after Carrera RS model of all is the 911 Carrera 2.7 RS also nicknamed the “Ducktail” thanks to its unique rear spoiler. The RS 2.7 was the first 911 to bear the name “Carrera” derived from the classic Carrera Panamericana road race.'Carrera' means 'Race' in Spanish and RS or Renn Sport again meant Race-Sport, for the benefit of those who don't get it.

The engineers at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, have developed a new top-of-the-range sports car for the customer who will only settle for the very best in terms of power, performance and driving dynamics: the 911 Turbo S.
The heart of this most exclusive high-performance athlete is of course a 6-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, with an increase in power over the 911 Turbo by 30 to 530 bhp (390 kW).

PORSCHE - crossing into the millenium
Today it seems Porsche is unable to do no wrong but it was not always that way. Porsche knew full well the folly of depending on a single model line like the then aging 911. Its first attempt with the 944 and 928 as replacements failed to do so. Instead, Porsche decided to make an entirely new 911. It was actually the Boxter models which gave us an inkling that big changes were brewing at Porsche. The Boxter may be a mid-engined roadster but it was to share some of its development platform with the new 911. There are those who regard the Boxter as even more dynamically balanced than the 911 and they are not far wrong. However the 911’s image is far too strong and it was unquestionably the more desirable model and Porsche rightly backed this horse.
