BMW M achieves record sales for Singapore in 2011 [Release]

BMW Asia is pleased to announce that its first exclusive BMW M dealer in the world, Munich Automobiles Pte Ltd, has set an entirely new sales record in 2011 since BMW M cars first started retailing in Singapore more than a decade ago.

The spectacular sales result of 126 units is attributed to the overall enhanced awareness of the BMW M brand in Singapore, as well as the successful introduction of popular new models such as the limited-production BMW 1 Series M Coupé and limited-edition BMW M3 GTS.

Further, the evergreen BMW M3 sedan, Coupé and Convertible, and the iconic BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M have been very popular amongst the local high-performance car community. Additionally, the BMW Individual service has been well-received by local motoring enthusiasts who wish to customise their cars’ look and feel according to their individual preference.

BMW M5 Through the Years

BMW's idea of a successful concept: motorsport technology for everyday use resulted in the first M5. It was not primarily intended nor was it homologated for any FIA racing class like the E30 M3. The idea was to use motorsport hardware and know-how to raise engine output and improve weight-to-power ratio.

Whether it was touring cars, rally cars, Formula 2 racers, a super sports car for the newly founded ProCar race series or the engine that powered the Brabham BMW team to the Formula One world title in 1983 – everything BMW Motorsport GmbH sent out onto the race track in its early years seemed hard-wired for success.

BMW M3 Carbon Racing Technology [Release]

BMW M GmbH will use the M Night event in the lead-up to the Nürburgring 24-hour race to unveil a spectacular new addition to its model range. The BMW M3 CRT (Carbon Racing Technology) embodies a concentrated blend of state-of-the-art development expertise – inspired directly by motor sport – in the areas of drive system and chassis technology and intelligent lightweight design.

It also represents the worldwide debut of a new production process for carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) components in the automotive industry. This process allows CFRP to be introduced widely in the construction of the high-performance BMW M3 Saloon-based sports car created by the BMW M GmbH factory. And that helps it achieve a weight-to-power ratio of 3.5 kilograms per horsepower. A V8 engine with customary M high-revving characteristics and maximum output of 331 kW/450 hp accelerates the BMW M3 CRT from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.

BMW (F10M) M5 Concept [Release]

For 25 years now, the fascinating combination of supreme driving comfort experienced in a premium upper midrange sedan and the handling characteristics of a high-performance sports car has been described by one single unmistakable model designation - BMW M5.

In 1984, with the first generation of this model, the BMW M GmbH laid the foundation stone for a completely new vehicle category. The BMW M5 was the first car of its kind to offer racing-oriented high performance in a sedan that could be driven without restrictions in everyday road traffic. This unique concept developed into a remarkable success story spanning four model generations.

The BMW M GmbH is now drawing the attention of racing car enthusiasts to a four-seater yet again. The BMW Concept M5, which made its public debut at the Auto Shanghai 2011, presents itself as the latest reinterpretation of this unmistakable vehicle character.

Superior sportiness and typical M aesthetics in a BMW 5 Series Sedan format provide the basis for the exclusive BMW M5 driving experience. With each model generation, the advancements made in the development of premium sedans in terms of comfort, safety and premium ambience were accompanied by new possibilities to intensify that unsurpassed ‘M feeling’.
