Stuttgart. On September 18th, in test drives on the “Nürburgring-Nordschleife”, a Porsche 918 Spyder prototype turned in a remarkable best time of just 07:14 minutes for the 20.6 km long circuit. One year before its production launch, the plug-in hybrid super sports car from Porsche AG is already proving its superlative dynamic performance potential - far surpassing all expectations placed in it. Dr. Frank Walliser, overall project leader for the 918 Spyder: “By turning in a fabulous time of 07:14 minutes, the 918 Spyder prototype has already fully confirmed the viability of its future concept after just a few months on the road.”

Crewe, England. 22 August 2012. Bentley is releasing full technical details of its exciting new 205 mph (330 km/h) all-wheel drive performance flagship ahead of its official international show debut at the Moscow Motor Show on 29 August. The new Continental GT Speed is the fastest road-car Bentley has ever produced and orders are being taken now, with deliveries scheduled to start in October 2012.
Powered by Bentley’s iconic 6-litre twin-turbo W12 engine, the GT Speed develops 625 PS (616 bhp) at 6000 rev/min – up 50 PS versus the standard Continental GT - with 800 Nm (590 lb.ft) of torque available from 2000 to 5000 rev/min (up 100 Nm) for instantly accessible high performance. Coupled with a new ZF eight-speed close-ratio automatic transmission and state-of-the-art engine management software, the GT Speed despatches the zero-to-sixty sprint in 4.0 seconds (0-100 km/h in 4.2s), reaching 100 mph (160 km/h) from a standing start in just 9.0 seconds. In-gear acceleration is equally breath-taking.

It is hard to believe that after 30 years BMW has only just launched its third generation M6. In 1984 they revealed the first generation “M6” E24 which actually went by the name M635i in Europe though in the US it carried the M6 name. And history would have stretched back even further if you wanted to make the case for the 1973 3.0 CSL, though it did not carry the M-name it was really a Motorsport developed car with a 3.4-litre 360 bhp 24-valve engine(in 1973!). Alas the M635i was to be the only “M6” with a manual transmission and used the M88 race engine from the M1. It took a long 16 years after production of the M635i stopped before BMW attempted the second generation in 2005 with the E63/64 M6 which used the glorious V10 from the E60 M5. It used a 7-speed SMG III gearbox to transmit the power.
Today's F12 M6 Convertible comes hot on the heels of its predecessor again using the M5's drivetrain. However it is not the normal aspirated V10 but a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 producing a mighty 560 bhp between 6000-7000 rpm. Turbocharged engines produce prodigious torque and the M6's 680 Nm while not class leading is still impressive and would present a huge challenge to harness it all with just two driven wheels.

Ingolstadt, July 25, 2012. Audi has made its R8 high-performance sports car even more attractive and dynamic. The R8 V10 plus is a new top model in the model series, with a totally new 7-speed S tronic. The LED headlights and the new rear indicator lights with dynamicized display are standard equipment on all variants.
At 4.44 meters (14.44 ft) long, 1.90 meters (6.23 ft) wide and only 1.25 (4.10 ft) meters high (Spyder: 1.24 meters (4.07 ft)) – the broad Audi R8, developed and built by quattro GmbH, stands firmly on the road, ready to pounce. New details lend its design even more acuity. The single-frame grille with the beveled upper corners is painted high-gloss black, with horizontal chrome inserts adorning the struts on the V10 variants. The bumper is also new, with the air inlets bearing three crossbars each. As an option, Audi installs a front splitter made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Only time will tell us if Lamborghini has hit the right notes to ensure longevity of its following but it is certainly trying. Limited editions are certainly the way to get buyers' and collectors' attention. Lamborghini has released the Reventon (20 units), Valentino Balboni (250 units), LP 670-4 SV (186 units) just to name a few. However this is the first time in recent history they have linked a limited edition road going version with their one-make racing “Cup” car.
In order to participate in FIA GT racing, manufacturers have to homologate a particular car with a particular set of equipment and have a certain number for sale. Lamborghini had done just that in 2009, their first foray into FIA GT racing right after its debut in October the year before. However they felt it would be less onerous (FIA GT3 rules forbid 4WD) to have their very own one make championship and is as interesting as the normal GT championship with one difference- Lamborghini could assure a Lamborghini would win the championship.
