Well Valentino's might not require a months waiting list but it is certainly top notch stuff. The recommended starters like the Mixed Mushrooms, Fried mozarella wrapped in Bacon and prosciutto melone are a great way to get the juices flowing.
The pasta is more traditional Italian and there is less variety but still delicious and properly al dente. Pizza is thin crusted and when freshly delivered has a board like stiffness so that a slice when properly held does not flop down. Not overdone or overloaded with the toppings, just right like a traditional pizza.
Then the piece de resistance: the Steak Florentine. No matter how many times we eat this it always makes us go "mmmmm". If you are the type that orders steak well done don't bother reading further but for those who know how a steak should be eaten you must have this one. It is not the american style huge slab but a pile of properly grilled and marinaded beef strips from an aged, large 800 ot 1000 gm T-bone. Served with rucola makes it the perfect combination.
Thanks to Valentino's there is not need to fly to Florence to our favs like Marione or Buca Lapi. But hey in the interest of being thorough why not this summer? Standby for updates. Meanwhile there's Valentino's, quite certainly the best Italian restaurant in sg.
