McLaren P1 aims to be the best driver’s car on both road and track. The large adjustable ‘active’ rear wing adjusts automatically to boost downforce and optimise aerodynamics. This Mid-engine design uses a carbonfibre monocoque and roof structure safety cage called MonoCage, and lightweight carbon ‘multi-purpose’ body panels.

McLaren would like to make it clear that they were the first to use a full carbonfibre monocoque tub in their race cars, the 1981 MP4/1. Actually it was Prof. Gordon Murray who first saw the advantage of this lightweight, high strength material in 1979 but then he was with a competing team, Brabham and he designed an aluminium/carbonfibre composite tub.
Later in 1987 Murray moved to McLaren and led the team with the Honda powered MP4/4 carbonfibre monocoque chassis to win 15 out of 16 F1 races in 1988. And on to four consecutive F1 championships 1988-1991 proving once and for all the absolute superiority of carbonfibre technology.

McLaren Automotive today announced the appointment of Ian Gorsuch as Regional Director for Asia Pacific, a newly created role following the creation of McLaren Automotive Asia. McLaren Automotive Asia is a private limited company registered in Singapore to oversee McLaren Automotive’s Asia Pacific operations.
Effective immediately, Mr. Gorsuch will relocate to Singapore where he will lead the operations, management and strategy for McLaren Automotive in the Asia Pacific region. He will be responsible for the manufacturer’s expansion in the region and its relationships with its appointed dealers in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Osaka, Sydney and Singapore. Mr. Gorsuch previously held these same responsibilities for the Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.

McLaren Automotive, the new high-performance sports car company based at the McLaren Group headquarters in the UK, today announces that Singapore-based businessman Peter Lim has completed a significant investment in the company. Lim, a successful business leader and philanthropist in Singapore, joins the McLaren Automotive Board of Directors with immediate effect.
With Peter Lim’s investment, McLaren marks another major milestone in its global growth strategy. McLaren GT has confirmed that Kent racer Phil Quaife will drive one of its all-new MP4-12C GT3 cars at this weekend’s prestigious Total 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium, where the car will make its 24 hour racing debut.
Phil, whose Le Mans Series outfit CRS Racing is playing a leading role in the development of the 12C GT3, will join regular team mate Adam Christodoulou, as well as fellow CRS stablemates Glynn Geddie and Roger Wills, at the wheel of the #60 VonRyan Racing-run Pro-Am Cup entry. Car 60 is one of three MP4-12C GT3s competing at this year’s event.

McLaren Automotive’s debut high-performance sports car, the MP4-12C, is today revealed in Singapore for the first time. The highly anticipated model from the British manufacturer was unveiled today at a special event for prospective customers and media at the red dot design museum.
The innovative 12C is unique in core segment of the sports car market. This two-seat, mid-engine model features a revolutionary one-piece, carbon-fibre chassis structure, the carbon MonoCell. It is the first time a car has featured a one-piece, carbon-fibre structure; a strong and lightweight engineering solution that comes straight from the world of motorsport where McLaren introduced this technology to Formula 1 in 1981.
