Available as a fixed-head coupé or as a Spider, with a retractable folding hard top, the McLaren 650S promises to redefine the high performance supercar segment, and has been designed and developed to provide the ultimate in driver engagement on the road and on the race track.

The Ultimate Supercar? : McLaren P1 at the 2012 Paris Motor Show [Release]

McLaren P1 aims to be the best driver’s car on both road and track. The large adjustable ‘active’ rear wing adjusts automatically to boost downforce and optimise aerodynamics. This Mid-engine design uses a carbonfibre monocoque and roof structure safety cage called MonoCage, and lightweight carbon ‘multi-purpose’ body panels.

McLaren Automotive will use its first ever international motor show appearance to preview its next generation ultimate supercar – the McLaren P1 – which takes much of its technological and spiritual inspiration from the company’s Racing division. The McLaren P1 has one simple goal: to be the best driver’s car in the world on road and track.

Final Cut : McLaren MP4-12C [Driven]

McLaren would like to make it clear that they were the first to use a full carbonfibre monocoque tub in their race cars, the 1981 MP4/1. Actually it was Prof. Gordon Murray who first saw the advantage of this lightweight, high strength material in 1979 but then he was with a competing team, Brabham and he designed an aluminium/carbonfibre composite tub.

Later in 1987 Murray moved to McLaren and led the team with the Honda powered MP4/4 carbonfibre monocoque chassis to win 15 out of 16 F1 races in 1988. And on to four consecutive F1 championships 1988-1991 proving once and for all the absolute superiority of carbonfibre technology.
